match 18A vs Chula Vista 09/09/16

Great 13-5 home win with a special shout out to Iron Man Tom Nesvold for playing on after his ankle injury after a nasty fall in mud on Number 6. Shout out also to partner Manley Bland for carding a net 65 on way to a 6-0 for he and Tom.

Manley reports that when the accident occurred, we didn’t know how bad it was but once we got Tom up he was in a lot of pain. Tom and his Iron Mike drive finished #6 and we got back to the cart. With his grit, Tom wanted to go to #7 to see if he could continue. He was determined and hit the ball over the pond/ lake on 7 and came back to the cart. He was limping and in a lot of pain. He was so determined that he said let’s try and get through 9 and then make a decision. It was very inspiring to me (Manley) and helped me want to win even more. Tom had to change his swing to try and take the pressure of his ankle. He adjusted his swing for the pain and continued to help us score points as we finished the front 9. After the accident he couldn’t even drive the cart anymore and we switched. I had to wait until he said okay before we could continue driving the cart and decided to drive the cart as close to the ball as we could so he wouldn’t have to walk much. He was very determined and wanted to continue. What an Iron Man!!. Somehow with his determination and true grit, Tom finished the round and we ended up winning 6 points for the team. I was very fortunate to have such an individual as a partner.  Thanks Tom for a very inspiring round and it was your true grit and determination that got us through the round.
